Om Prakash Chautala, the leader of
the Indian National Lok Dal political
party, has been leaving no stone
unturned to stay away from his protégé,
Gopal Kanda, in the wake of the Geetika
Sharma suicide case. Long gone are
those days when Kanda weighed Chautala
in coins during the assembly poll
campaign in 2005. The money connection
seems to have turned bitter, with
Govind Kanda (Kanda’s younger
brother) announcing that Chautala had
garnered crores from his elder brother.
Govind’s declaration was in response to
Chautala’s recent statement that he had
never met Gopal before they met in the
assembly. Many say that the Kanda
brothers suspect that Chautala has been
giving a helping help to the media and
the police in exposing Kanda’s role in
Geetika’s suicide.
