There always seems to be something
strange about the sartorial
choices of Republican nominees for
US vice president. It is the ill-fitting
clothes of Mitt Romney's running
partner Paul Ryan this time. It has
been given various names by the
media, one of them being “dad
pants”. Most of the major newspapers
in the country, such as the New
York Times and The Washington Post
have had their columnists issue
comments on his oversized suit.
In the previous presidential
elections, it was Sarah Palin’s
get-up which not only
grabbed much news
space but also set
the Republican
Party back by
US $ 1 5 0 , 0 0 0 .
How much that
helped them
then is anybody’s
guess,
but Ryan’s Midwestern
style may
attract the swing
voters. But the
women in the
country certainly
don’t seem to be
impressed with
those baggy pants!
