Which TCM?
All patients had used traditional Chinese herbal medicine. The most common administration route was oral; other
routes included intravenous infusion, muscle injection,
spray and external use (e.g. herbal dressings for skin
ulcers). Almost all patients had participated in Guo-Lin
qigong sessions. This is a type of qigong especially developed
for cancer, whose proponents publicly claim that it
can be useful to treat cancer. No patients had used acupuncture,
stating that this technique should be used with
caution because it might stimulate tumour spread or
progression.
